I'm playing minecraft on my ps4 and found a village near it. There was a large, not completely finished nether portal, is that rare? And what can I do with it and how long has it been around?
It's been around since 1.16 you can finish building the nether portal and go into the nether.
They just pop up randomly… But I don't think there's anything particularly special about it.
They are normal and are here at 1.16, they are not that rare and mostly boxes with gold items and other netherstuff and a half-finished portal made of crying obsidian and normal C
I have been playing minecraft myself for a long time but I wanted to say that this portal has existed since 1.16 and I think these are not uncommon because they are joined every 200 blocks

You can assemble it and go to the nicer one next to it there may be gold blocks or boxes with gold items (possibly enchanted) with the gold you can then trade with the piglens in the nether C:
