I enjoy playing video games in my free time (including Fortnite, CoD, …).
I live in a large district town in which the fiber-optic expansion is just beginning through the BBV. Currently in my area is DSL 16K (10k arrive) the maximum, but no later than next year, we will get a fiber connection (100K down and upload).
Play with a connected LAN cable from the router to the PS4. Currently I have an average ping of 30 when playing Fortnite when no one is on the network except me or watching videos on the Internet. There will surely be a few respondents who want to make it clear to me what a ping really is. Will I expect a better ping through my future fiber optic connection and if then clearly or only minimally? I would also like to know where the server is located in Europe or Germany by EpicGames / Fortnite.
Of course, you get a visibly better ping on a much better line, especially if you only have 10k and switch to a slightly higher 100k
Glass fiber is generally quite fast and is improving very well. The server is in any case I believe in different countries, there are several.
A ping of 30 is ok. I would be in your place rather to the whole MB / sec happy to come to download things
Only minimal or not at all. Have even with a 200k line a ping of 20-30 (depending on the game)
Ping does not have much to do with it either, you can google more info about that quickly.
I never had anything to do with Fortnite. Once googled to Fortnite EU Server and I found that: https://gameserverping.com/fortnite-battle-royale
Wow are the servers of Fortnite Weak. So I'm supposed to have a ping of over 100ms. I have a ping of 27ms for the league server in Amsterdam!
Yes, then I can finally download games and movies fast.
