Last week (like probably many others) I bought a Playstation from home. I wanted to please my husband and I found a reputable seller (as I thought). I transferred 550 euro via PayPal with buyer protection and he sent the Playstation off (supposedly). I waited and waited and at some point it struck me as mega strange as no message was sent to me by email from DHL. He registered the package online and allegedly received nothing. At some point he sent me a screenshot with a shopping cart number and said that he had contacted support and most of the time it should arrive in the days. At some point I contacted the support myself and they shouldn't give me any information, but I described my situation and they told me that I was not the recipient. I applied for buyer protection directly from PayPal and now I'm waiting for what's to come. According to PayPal, it must be clarified by December 23rd. The seller pretends to be bold and says that he has sent the packet and that I already have the PS but am a fraud myself and still want the money.
I reported the case to PayPal on December 8th and until today absolutely nothing was heard from the seller. Today, of all days, after I reported the UK to the police, I received an email in the car that the UK has now spoken to PayPal. Now the case is delayed further. I'm so scared that I won't get my money back…
Have any of you experienced something similar? Is there hope for me Can the scammer get away with it?
The seller pretends to be bold and says that he has sent the packet and that I already have the PS but am a fraud myself and still want the money.
He can say yes - he is obliged to PROVE to Paypal by tracking number that he has sent the package and that you have received it.
As long as he can't prove this, the chances are good that you will get your money back.
I got an e-mail in the car that the VK has now spoken to PayPal
What did he say?
You received a tracking number from the seller. What is the shipment status?
I can't see what he said. And I did not get a send number and PayPal has none. I only got the shopping cart number and the DHL were not allowed to give me any information but said that I was not the recipient.
What kind of shopping cart number?
That sounds like a typical case of:
Triangular fraud.

Then it is not the seller who is the fraudster, but a third person.
I know he received the money because he sent me a screenshot.
He allegedly franked it online and there was only a shopping cart number that he sent me as proof
This is not proof of postage.
So he doesn't have one.
