Which 1&1 DSL offer is good for Twitch Streaming?

As soon as I get a job I will buy a better DSL from 1&1. Currently we own only DSL 16 and that is enough for one person. That If I play any game and my parents watch YouTube, it will lag instantly. (Without streaming)

Which DSL offer would be enough so that I can play any game on the Internet, e.g. Battlefield 4 or CoD MW2 and stream that on Twitch while my mom or dad or both are watching YouTube or making a video call on WhatsApp?

DSL 50: with up to 50 MBit / s download and up to 10 MBit / s upload

DSL 100: with up to 100 MBit / s download and up to 40 MBit / s upload

DSL 250: with up to 250 MBit / s download and up to 40 MBit / s upload

I think DSL 100 is enough, right? DSL 50 is probably too little if I want to stream and my parents do something on the Internet. Or should one resort to DSL 250? Is it worth it? Or the best DSL 100?

I have exactly this DSL250 of 1&1. I'm absolutely satisfied and the download speed is absolutely top. I say the 100s would have been enough for gaming and streaming, but if I remember correctly, the 250 has cost 5 euro more a month, so what the hell.

However, you have to check if a 250cc rate is even possible with you, which is not obvious in rural areas. I also have The maximum power really only with cable, over W-Lan I receive only a fraction of the 250.

Ah, thanks for checking that out. I will do that! You're right.

So much can't handle a single PC, even if multiple streams run simultaneously.

And it is an illusion that the Web, the next node computer at the provider, actually provides full bandwidth at any time and with any application. That's just the line capacity.

And even if the connection to the server holds the 50 Mb / s. The server, (for large websites, of course, this is the whole server farms) has only a limited power.

First, you should inform yourself what is possible with you at all. DSL 250 is possible only in very rare cases and even DSL 100 is far from the rule.

Often 50MBit is over. But if you're streaming, you need upload bandwidth and if your parents are looking videos they need download bandwidth.

And since DSL 50 already offers 10MBIt upload (instead of 1MBit with DSL 16) that should be enough.

I'm surprised how many people recommend DSL 250. Are 5 euro more expensive than DSL 100 every month not quite a lot of money in the long run?

Can you even calculate yourself Sustainable I would say

Re

You speak of the download that is irrelevant for streaming.
I even get more DL than the provider specified, which is normal.

There are fortunately enough tools and the Twitch Inspector to test the stability of the upload. Speaking Streamed to an offline twitch server in real conditions but without the stream going on but the data connection can be seen on Twitch Live & also over which node you should most stably stream.

I mostly stream over Amsterdam or Frankfurt.

At 5 euro difference is the manageable. But unfortunately the standard routers do not provide this performance either. Since then you usually have to take your own router or book one.

At 1&1 you force a router on, but is unlawful as recently confirmed. As a 1&1 customer you have the self-selection of the router. Either one takes from 1&1 or a own.
