OpenSUSE livestreams are not playing?

Both Youtube and Twitch livestreams are not played with Firefox or Chromium. On Twitch I get the error # 4000 while on YouTube no error code is displayed. The software is up-to-date, I only installed everything, including OpenSUSE, today. How can I solve the problem?

There's probably a codec missing. You can install them from the Packman repository. But don't wonder how 😨

Maybe you should install Gecko Linux right away. This is openSUSE, just with a couple of very nice default settings. Seen in this way, it is not a separate distribution because it uses the same sources. I use it myself and don't have your problems.

You uninstall everything in multimedia like VLC, Kaffeine, etc.

Then you set up Packman in the repositories.

If you reinstall the VLC player, then via Packmann. Possibly reload mpeg3, mpeg4 via Packmsn.

The necessary codecs are now installed and you can play everything.

For licensing reasons, OpenSuse does not include these codecs. You can't play DVDs or videos with mpeg4 without these codecs.

I can't confirm. Everything worked for me after the installation.

Unfortunately not for me. VLC, Kaffeine could not play video files. Until I then downloaded these codecs under Pacman.

Incidentally, this applies to OpenSuse 15.2.
