CPU is 100 degrees hot?

I bought the new Acer Predator Orion 3000 in January 2021 and noticed that the CPU often reaches 100 degrees in games like The Forest and Warzone, which is not normal for such a young PC in my opinion.

It came on the market in mid-2020 and is presented as a gamer PC.

When I play other games and then stream them on Twitch, the CPU doesn't even get that hot.

Should I send it to Acer or should I have it water-cooled?

Or is it all completely normal?

Hope you can help me.

PS: If I download Forza Horizon 4 from the Microsoft Store, for example, the CPU gets up to 75 degrees, which I don't understand because it's just a download, maybe that helps.

My PC:

Acer Predator Orion 3000

Intel Core i7 10700 2.90 GHz
GPU is Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060
Mainboard Acer Predator PO3-620
16 GB DDR from Hyperx in dual
Purchase price 1200 euro

100 degrees is crazy. Is there thermal paste on the processor? If not, then you should do it urgently.

Ka

I don't know it's a built-in from acer didn't do anything to it

Au

100 ° is way too high. I suspect that either no thermal paste was applied or the sensor that measures the temperature is not working properly. I would see if the paste is available and / or send back the PC if the guarantee allows it. A finished PC from Acer is not recommended anyway. If you don't feel like building it yourself, at least assemble the PC yourself on sites like Dubaro and get a good price / performance ratio. And water cooling would not be of any use either, since it often brings even worse temperatures than air cooling, and is more for the design.

Ka

Oh ok i should call acer tomorrow morning and clarify it with them

Ka

Has nothing to do with lust but with ignorance and otherwise i was satisfied with the pc for years

Br

100 degrees definitely reduces the life expectancy of the CPU…

Lower high CPU temperatures in 6 steps

If the processor gets too hot from gaming, it can lead to complete failure. Before that happens, one should go through the following steps…
Cleaning…
Reset push pins of the CPU cooler…
Thermal paste…

CPU cooler…
PC case…
Case fan.

Ka

Yes there's still a guarantee on it and it's not really dirty my ps4 was dirtier than the pc now it's only been january and doesn't want to or can't do much because of the guarantee

Tu

No wonder with such a tiny cooler for a hothead like the i7. In the turbo cycle it draws over 200W.

Install a better cooler, it looks really undersized.

Ka

And because I don't know which setup you would recommend to me on this dubaro page

Ka

I hardly have any space and I think that the guarantee is gone, right?

Tu

Well, you don't have any other option.

If you read through reviews of the pc, you can see that many have the problem. This is simply due to the design because the cooler is too weak.

Measure how much space there's between the disk and the mainboard. There are also strong flat coolers.

Au

I would take a look at the 1099 euro PC from Kreativecke's Friday PC's, and then configure something yourself how you want the PC to be. If you want to configure the best for the price, you logically have to find out more yourself via YouTube, for example. But what you can get ready-made configurations without your own involvement is trd. In almost every case better than any other dealer.

If the manufacturer does not take it back or replace it because of the high CPU temperature, all you really have to do is change the PC location.

E.g. If the PC is enclosed by a desk, simply place the PC compartment on the desk. Personally, living in Thailand (high outside temperatures, mostly over 30 degrees) that helped me to lower the temperature by a few degrees with an external fan (outside) for the air circulation in the room, plus additional fan in the housing.

Ta

What kind of CPU cooler is that too? Never seen it hmm

You can try to install a Noctua NH-D15. The best cooler and affordable.

It already fits on it and goes over the RAM.

Call Acer and explain that technicians have advised you on this, and you can also hear about the original built-in cooler from Acer when evaluating the same problems. Whether they give you the permission to replace the cooler without loss of warranty, because if not the whole PC goes down. Or where you bought it…
