I want to get a next gen console, the Xbox Series s.
However, I have to get a new monitor that supports HDMI 2.0 or 2.1.
I read that you can play with 4K and 120 fps on a monitor that supports 2.1.
However, I have often read that monitors that support 2.0 can only have 4k and 60 fps or 1080p and 120 fps when gaming.
I wanted to know whether it is true that you can achieve 120 fps with HDMI 2.0, or whether it only works with HDMI 2.1.
With HDMI 2.1 you can achieve 120fps and 4k. With HDMI 2.0 you can only have one of the two, i.e. 120fps or 4k but not both. But there are currently almost or no monitors with HDMI 2.1, 4k resolution and 120hz on the market.
Okay thanks
Since the Series S does not support native 4K at all, the question is irrelevant.
Buy any WQHD monitor and you're done. HDR is still quite nice.
I wanted to know if it is true that you can get 120 fps with HDMI 2.0
But you can only do it in Full HD
But as others already said, there are hardly any monitors with HDMI 2.1 that is currently almost exclusively reserved for TV sets, for example the Sony XH90 series
