Can you use different HDMI cables (HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 2.1)?

With my PS4 I use an HDMI splitter for 2 TVs, so a total of 3 HDMI cables. The PS5 will soon come with an HDMI 2.1. Would it work to connect one HDMI 2.1 with two HDMI 2.0s to the splitter? Or maybe on my 4K TV HDMI 2.1 to HDMI 2.1 and on the other HDMI 2.1 to HDMI 2.0. Is that possible or do I need 3 HDMI 2.1 cables?
