Windows 10 refresh rate at maximum 30 Hz?

I have a new PC assembled and now I had to realize that I get in games only 30 FPS constant. Installed is an AMD Vega 64 and I use the LG 27UD88-W via HDMI. The monitor should definitely support 60 Hz. I have already read that Freesync is only via Displayport and I wondered whether 60 Hz can be achieved only with DisplayPort. In the Windows 10 settings, I have then looked at what the refresh rate is and there was 29 Hz specified. However, only a maximum of 30 Hz could be selected (even if I remove the check mark "Hide modes that monitor can't display"). After some research, I found out that the xBox app is set to 30 fps. There I also changed the switch to 60 fps. Unfortunately, no improvement. Then I have the driver of the monitor installed, synonymous only a maximum of 30 Hz possible. In the monitor software and in the AMD software, unfortunately, I find no way to adjust the heart. With AMD is only G.Refreshrate 30 Hz can be set but nothing.

I would be happy if someone can explain to me what that could be or what I overlook. On Thursday comes a Displayport cable so that I can also use AMD Freesync.

Ja

FreeSync only adjusts the Hz to your FPS, if you should have less. This creates a smoother picture. Your problem is that you have a constant 30 FPS and this is due to VSync (vertical sync). VSync reduces your FPS to the Hz of the screen, so VSync keeps the FPS at 30 on you. Issue VSync and you should have more FPS again

You need Display Port 1.4 for 4k and Freesync.

Thanks that helped. But can't I put Windows on 60 Hz?

Thank you very much

Since the monitor has 4k, I can only strongly recommend that you connect via the display port.

In your place I would rather go to WQHD @ 144 Hz, as 4K, because 1) the Vega 64 in 4K in high settings only about 50 FPS creates and 2) 4K on 27 "are very small.

But if you play more strategy & building games, 4K can already be worth more than WQHD…

he

All right. I'm just an opportunity player but will give it a try

Ja

Actually already. You could try changing it with the AMD program. Unfortunately, I know only with the NVIDIA, because there it goes.

Ja

It may also be due to the resolution of the monitor. For example: some monitors can only 4k in 60Hz, but WQHD in 144Hz

he

Meanwhile I could select 60 Hz. What was it? No idea. I have in the AMD Radeon Settings (right click on the desktop) want to create a custom resolution with 60 Hz. Then the program has reported to me that the monitor does not support this. When I nachgeschat then in the Windows settings, the dropdown was suddenly up to 60 Hz. The main thing is now.

Ja

Then it's good

lo

You have overclocked the HDMI controller with it so to speak. Maybe that works with a longer cable or not more.

Ja

Can old HDMI versions not 60Hz? My monitor can work with HDMI 144Hz on WQHD and 60Hz on 4K

lo

No, HDMI 1.4 can only 4k at 30hz. At least according to specifications

Ja

Then I'm just stupid. I have not been so busy with the transmission cables.

lo

The cables are also identical.

It's just the controllers. The cables for the different versions are largely the same (there are some with and without Ethernet, and high-speed and premium high-speed cables)
