The question is serious. I mean on the Ps4 controllers are shapes watch triangle, square, circle and cross. Why should an X be between the shapes? P.S. Xbox has letters and Playstation forms.

But I sometimes catch myself while I say X I think so many.
In my head it is mostly pink (square), red (circle), turquoise (triangle) and blue (cross) xD
So if ingame comes with a message that you have to press, then I only pay attention to the color anyway. This is faster in the visual center of the brain than the shape to recognize.
Even the arrow keys and shoulder buttons can be recognized very quickly. Sony has solved this well and intuitively.
R in a narrow gray rectangle is R1, L in a gray rectangle is L2 … For example.
