Why isn't the download speed faster?

I'm currently downloading a game to the Xbox One X and it has a relatively constant speed of 40 mbyts.

Actually I have a 1 GB line. When I go into network settings and test the current network speed it shows that the console is 650 mbyts. I also read that the hard drive's writing speed is around 500 mbyts.

Xbox is connected via Lan, nobody else is connected to Wi-Fi and no other downloads on the Xbox.

Then why does it only download with 40 mbyts?

Or

Never had an Xbox but are you sure that the download is given in bits and not bytes?

He

Oh had prescribed me, meant Megabyte

Or

Then you have your answer.

Su

Then why does it only download with 40 mbyts?

The simplest explanation: Because the corresponding download server only provides you with so much.

Is the console directly only connected via lan or is there a power line connection or something similar in between?

He

Not quite, as I said, 40 megabytes / s, but according to xbox's own measurements, 650 megabytes / s should arrive

Or

650 megabytes? Please what?

8x650 = 5200

So with 5.2Gbits that would be a bit more than you booked, I think so 650 megabytes / s can't be measured correctly

He

Sorry I got it now, I didn't realize that Mbit / s is not the same as megabyte / s.

Then it actually works.
