I want to buy one of the new next gen consoles this Christmas, the problem is I don't know which one.
I've gambled on Playstations all my life, and I've been happy too, but I'm still somehow attracted to the new Xbox. I have pros and cons to both consoles, e.g. :
PS5:
- Good exclusives that I definitely want to play. Good looks, trophy system…
- Unfortunately less powerful than the Xbox and not as much memory. And I would always feel bad if I had the weaker console.
Xbox:
- More powerful, I think controllers are better, Gamepass might interest me.
- No good exclusives (not many), with the gamepass I don't have a real collection on the shelf anymore.
I know you can't tell me what to buy, just want to know which ones you personally find better, or even better, whether you have more pros / cons argus.
Since I've been a playstation player all my life, I'd stick with it. I couldn't agree with my conscience to buy the other console now.
Xbox is more in the direction of multimedia, but of course it is still good for gaming. The Xbox Game Pass is really great though. I would take the Xbox just for the controller. I usually just hit my PS4 controller in the corner when I lose a game. The Xbox One controller is on the shelf, I can't play with it, it's just too beautiful for that.
Defensively the Playstation 5 (disc version).
Arguments:
Exclusive: For me, exclusive games are important, and Playstation has enough good ones, regardless of whether they are called God of War, The Last Of us, Uncharted 4 or Marvel Spiderman, I think they are masterpieces
Performance is not everything: Yes, the xbox has a slightly better performance, but it's not a staggering amount, and the ps5 performance is extremely good.
Free things: with PS Plus you get free games every month, yes at xbox you get free games with the gold game pass but the price of PS Plus and Xbox GamePass Gold differ because the price of PS plus at 8 euro per month and the Xbox GP Gold is 20 euro per month
Audio: Ps5 has 3D audio
Design: I think the design of the ps5 is better, but the design isn't exactly important.
Arguments for Xbox Series X:
Memory: it actually has more memory capacity than the ps5. The ps5 is 800 GB and the Xbox 1000 GB (1 TB)
Performance: yes, the performance is better, but as already said there's not a big difference, with online there would be minimal advantages and with offline (single player) it would make no difference for most games
Controller: I think both controllers are cool, so the xbox controller is much more comfortable to hold and the analog sticks are better placed
