The best in my eyes is Halo Reach. But everyone says something different here, me too.
You will definitely not get a general and, above all, correct answer. Because there's no such thing.
Anyway, it doesn't make much sense to just play any part just because they all belong together and tell a comprehensive story.
I recommend the Master Chief Collection. You can play all parts in the right order. In addition, parts one and two got a remaster, which is also a bit older.
And yes, there's also a split screen.
