I'm considering buying a next gen console, but I don't know which one.
I have an xbox one s and a ps4 and had equal fun on both.
What would you recommend
What are your priorities?
Price? Power? Exclusive games?
If you absolutely want a console, I would recommend the Xbox Series x.

I myself also have a PS4 and an Xbox but I have to say myself I can't handle the Xbox and the controller so I'll get a PS5 the difference in performance is small… Everyone always says there are worlds between but have no idea… Get it the console you get along with better and where you have more friends
All 3 are bad. But the S is so 5, the PS5 is 4, the Xbox is 4.
Would take the Xbox Series X for the following reasons:
You can also use all older controllers and headsets that you used on the Xbox One S on the Series X. That doesn't work with the Playstation ecosystem, where you have to use headphones, steering wheel, Scuf controller and the like. Buy again.
You always have at least 14 days membership for Xbox Live / Game Pass included, which is really a big advantage compared to the Playstation.
For these 500 euro, which cost both consoles, the Xbox Series X is more worthwhile because it has the better price-performance ratio. It costs just as much but has 20% more raw power and 40% more ray tracing power.
No need to buy your game twice on Xbox!
You have the better chat / party system here.
You have the better crossplay experience here, because you can also gamble with switch, PC and hand, which is very limited with the Playstation.
The Xbox has the Game Pass, so Sony can't keep up with it at all. Ps + and Ps Now are really bad and are among the worst services after Nintendo's service, of course.
20% more power is an announcement, I would say… And especially if you like ray tracing, the Playstation 5 is not the best console for it. Cough cough it is worse than an RTX2060S in terms of ray tracing.

Would you say the Xbox Series S should be equated with the Ps5? Because that would be my opinion too.
Both consoles are somehow not an update only old generation and only offer a little more performance than the predecessor.

Definitely not the S is absolute rubbish. The GPU is just at 2015 level, hope nobody buys it that would be an absolute waste of money. In terms of performance, the PS5 would be 10-20% below the xbox series x but mostly has the better titles. The question now is what you want.
The S is now more of a beginner console, so I understand why there was savings on the GPU and the SSD.
However, find the argument that the Playstation has the better exclusive titles a bit too lean. Because Microsoft is currently trying very hard to buy up new developer studios and create great exclusive titles with them. See for example TELL ME WHY or Grounded which are 2 really great games and really get praised in the sky.
With the Xbox you have a slightly larger genre selection, although not with that many games, but at least you will not only find action adventure games like Sony but also horror titles like The Medium & Scorn, strategy games like the Gears series, racing games like Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport, shooters like Halo, adventure games like Tell Me Why, survival games like Grounded and vidle are other genres.
Tell me why and grounded? Never heard of. I would definitely not get it if it comes from Microsoft. The only good show was halo and they broke that too. I'm more likely to praise the Playstation. They had Bloodborne, Little Big Planet, Demons Souls, God of War, Killzone. Those were really good games. Sales figures say everything people want (good exclusives)
The games do not come directly from Microsoft. They were published by Xbox Game Studios, but they were developed by Dontnod (Tell Me Why) which is known for the very successful Live is Strange parts and Obsidian Entertainment (Grounded)
So I would recommend the Xbox Series X though.
I just think Microsoft is doing more right than Sony and I have the feeling that Sony is more important than Microsoft that we want to be better.
I myself have had an Xbox one since 2014 and can therefore take a lot of games with me to the new generation and with the gamepass you save on all the games that come from the Xbox Game Studios and Microsoft has upgraded very well, so I find the argument no longer that Sony has more exclusive games. But I would never deny that Sony also has good games, because I don't believe in console war. I hardly occupied myself with the Playstation because I never really had the urge to get a console from Sony.

If you (rumxrs) like great sound and great colors through Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, then the Xbox is the much better choice, because Dolby is probably no longer interested in Sony and no longer offers any services by itself on Sony's consoles.
