The following circumstance: I bought myself Minecraft for the iPad many years ago
Now I and 2 colleagues (on their Android smartphones) wanted to play together
The one thing is that they did not buy the game, so they pulled out an internet apk (I mean it was version 1.9 or so and they always have "beta!" In the startup menu, too. I have one on the ipad older version than 1.9
Now we've tried everything possible to play online (Xbox Live Account, Hotspot with and without Internet, Bluetooth). We were able to show each other's world, but unfortunately we could never join dkeser!
Another special feature is that with their apks can't even play online, say with global players
