Xbox Series X controller on the PC to play?

I just got the problem that I bought GTA V for PC, but it turned out that I can only play GTA V with an Xbox controller. So I wanted to buy the Xbox Series X controller now. I already know that I can connect the controller to the PC, but I just wanted to ask again whether I can really play GTA V and other games with it.

You can also play with the keyboard. The XBox controller is connected via USB or Bluetooth.

Yes I know that I can play with the keyboard, maybe should have mentioned that I want to play on the controller haha. Anyway, thanks for the help!
