I currently have a gaming PC worth around 600 euro. Would it be worth saving on the Xbox right now?
Why sell a PC and buy a console?
That would be not only from the specs but also from the control n downgrade!
If you absolutely want to switch to the console, do it.
I would never sell my PC for a console, at most an additional console. PC Master Race!
I would advise against.
Although many are already getting their tax refunds now, because of Corona, many people will also save and put their money into everyday necessities (emergency stock), so you may currently get a lower price.
The prices for hardware (RAM and flash memory) are currently rising because of a small market shakeout for memory chips and some manufacturers have switched to other products in production. In addition, there was a power failure at Samsung last year and since the FAB has to start again (te), modules for SSDs are scarce.
I suspect that due to Corona there were or will be massive production downtimes in China, which means that many components that are manufactured there will probably also become more expensive. China is also an important supplier for many electronic components such as simple resistors and capacitors, which will also affect production outside of China.
The XBox X is not yet available and due to Corona it may also be that the availability will only be limited or even the new consoles (whether XBox or Playstation) will be late and only come next year. And if you already sell the PC, you will be without a PC right away.
And my personal reason I would always prefer a PC to a console.
But the Xbox series X is even faster than a gtx 1070 right?
