Free to Play Games without Live Gold?

Are there any free games on Xbox that I can use to play online with friends without Xbox Live?

Rocket League? Don't have an XBox, so don't know if that works.

To be able to play games online you need an active Xbox Live Gold or an xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership.

It doesn't matter whether the game is free or not.

But that should change this year.
