How to connect a new kinect to the xbox360?

We got a new kinect because the other one had the cable cut, the problem is that the xbox does not see the kinect. We have the xbox 360 slim and there we only need to plug the USB cable into the aux socket but it does not work even if I turn the xbox on and off and put the cable in and out, nothing happens. Software update is also redone.

Because the version you have is not compatible with the version of your 360 and you still have to buy the adapter for it.

I thought for the slim you do not need that with the earlier I have not needed
