Why is the current bid lower than my maximum bid (Ebay)?

I placed a bid for an Xbox game on Ebay yesterday. The problem is that I don't understand why the current bid is lower than my maximum bid (see picture).

Can someone explain to me why that is?

PS: I'm the only bidder for this item at the moment.

You submit a maximum bid and eBay then bids for you up to this amount.

If the current bid is 10 euro, the bidder before you entered a maximum bid of 15 euro, you now enter 20 euro as the maximum bid, then you are the highest bidder with 15.50 euro.

If someone now bids 18 euro, you are still the highest bidder with 18.50 until someone enters 21 euro and beats your maximum bid.

I think the fact is that your max bid is the price you can go up to. But if the current one is below this (as is the case with one euro), it makes no sense for you to spend 5.60 euro. So the current bid is 1 euro and you are there up to a bid of 5.60 euro.

If you submit a maximum offer, the bid will always be made as soon as another person makes a bid, until your maximum offer is reached.

In your case, the bid is currently 1 euro. If there are no more bidders, you can get the item for 1 euro.

Because that goes in steps of 50 cents or euro.

You bid 5.60 maximum. The lowest bid is 1 euro, then you will be assigned the offer for 1.50. Someone comes and offers 3 euro, you get the surcharge for 3.50 euro. It stays that way until someone bids more like your 5.60. Someone bids 10 euro as a maximum, then gets the contract for 6 euro
