Good evening together I was looking for a good mainboard for the Ryzen 5 1600 then I found this mainboard but the Msi "Max" mainboards already come with bios for the 3 gen. So my question was whether the mainboards with the new one bios still work with the old CPUs?

And another question ;-)

Where is the difference between this https://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/search/true/MSI-B450-TOMAHAWK-MAX-AM4_1322750.html

And this mainboard?

Yes it works. Use an MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon ac with a 1600x.

The MAX version is a tick better. It also has a larger BIOS chip.

It's best to take the MAX version.

Sa

Do you also have an answer to the 2 question where is the difference?

In a nutshell:

"The MAX version is a tick better. It also has a bigger BIOS chip."

Otherwise, you can compare on Skinflint:

Yes, the old ones work too.

The Tomahawk has a better VRM heatsink and a few other connectors.

ti

Yes, the old CPUs also work with the new boards and borads with new bios.

The difference between the two boards is the connections. The Thomahawk max has a USB-C port, while Gaming Plus has a second USB 3.1 port. The Gaming Plus has one more PCIe slot. Otherwise, the boards are almost identical, same mosfets etc…

If you take the r5 1600 make sure that you take the new version so the ryzen 5 1600AF. The is made in 12nm instead of 14nm and the performance almost like a Ryzen 5 2600.
