How does a ground loop develop on my PC display but not on the TV?

It's like this: I wanted to transfer the Nintendo Switch sound to my PC (with a 3.5mm - 3.5mm audio cable) and connected my Switch to my PC display via HDMI. But then there was a very loud noise that, according to my sources, is called "Ground Loop". I didn't think much then because it was self-explanatory. However, when I connected the HDMI cable to my TV display, there were no further noises. Can someone help me there?

HDMI transmits audio digitally because the principle either there's sound or there's no background noise are excluded

AUX or Line is an analog technology

But what difference does it make whether the HDMI cable goes from the switch to a TV display or a PC display?
