My girlfriend bought a Switch Lite yesterday with animal crossing. Now your account and my account are on this switch and we're ultimately playing on an island since we only play on one switch.
Now I have to buy my own animal crossing tomorrow.
If I now copy my account from my girlfriend's switch to the new switch, will I automatically have a new island and will I simply be away from my girlfriend on the island?

No, if you move your account, your seasons are there in the profile, but you still have to start the games from the beginning because the data remains on the other console. I.e. You have to move the storage data with, but unfortunately I don't know how to do that.
