Can you connect the Nintendo Switch to a laptop?

Hi, I would like to connect my switch to my laptop and then play there. That this is not possible on the HDMI port of the laptop because it is only an output port, I'm aware of and therefore I have bought an HDMI to USB adapter. My laptop does not recognize the switch. Can anyone help me?

Zy

Is this an HDMI to USB or a USB to HDMI adapter?

I use a capture card as an HDMI input for my laptop / PC and connect it to the Nintendo Switch or other console / devices.

Kn

So I think that is only an HDMI to USB adapter (so you put the hdmi cable in and then can connect to NEN usb port).
That it goes with a capture card, I also scon heard, but it's just quite expensive.
Besides, is that anyhow possible that one takes a USB video input on the laptop?

Zy

For both HDMI to USB and USB to HDMI, the USB port is plugged into the PC and an HDMI cable is connected to the other end. The one adapter serves as an output while one acts as an input.

The adapter / capture cards which act as input usually cost around 70 euro +

While the adapters which act as output already for 10 euro + gets.

Ok I bought mine for 7 euro or so, so it can be that it works only as an output? Here is the link

Here's a nice comment from the Amazon product page of this adapter:

This product is not a converter. It does not magically turn USB into HDMI inputs / outputs. If you think that it can transmit via USB ports, suitable for charging or pure media transfer here real-time image signals, which is wrong. Make sure your devices and their connectors support that at all and get you converters if necessary, this is a purely mechanical pin connector, it's passive. The adapter is to MHL cable "backwards" back to USB-A ports and make it usable again as a conventional cable to charge or connect it as a disk.

It uses an HDMI port, this can transmit data and power, which knows because every modern yes even supports Ethernet. This does not automatically mean that there's picture / sound in every direction and where your device does not have an output / input for a digital video signal via HDMI, this adapter can't invent!

Ah, thanks for the info
