I need help and I have a Nintendo DS I XL and I bought an R4 SDHC memory card on Ebay. I don't get it installed, whenever I insert the card, a black screen appears where it says: An error has occurred, etc. The following firmware is on the Nintendo DSI XL 1.4.5

Presumably the card was blocked with a firmware update.

Go to the manufacturer's website (it should be on the packaging) and follow the steps to update the firmware of your flashcard. Normally it should then work again.

So I downloaded the file and transferred it to the stick. Now I've created a folder called DS Games and added the games. I still get the same error message on the DS when I start it.
