Since people are currently sitting more often in online meetings and conferences, I wanted to ask what is more appropriate and better: a separate microphone or a headset with a microphone. I think it's stupid to sit in front of the camera with a headset. On the other hand, a separate microphone + frame is probably more expensive. I would also like to use the microphone / headset for the PS4 controller and it would be complicated to plug in the microphone and headphones via a connection, while that would not be necessary with a headset.
The microphones on headsets are usually very bad, so I would recommend a microphone.
There are cradle microphones for ~ 20 euro (search for BM800) that are better than any headset microphone
I have a Soundblaster headset. I do everything with it. Teamspeak, Discord, Skype. Even my podcasts. Everything absolutely clean. And it's a wireless headset, so I can walk around the apartment. But be careful when it comes to the bathroom.
Even a pair of headphones can significantly improve the sound quality that you can achieve compared to using speakers. Feedback and echo effects do not occur in the first place and you can adjust your listening volume as it is best for you. Disturbing noises from outside are also muffled. If you switch to the headset, the sound quality for your listeners also improves because the distance between your mouth and the microphone remains constant. You also gain freedom of movement.
However, it is important that the headset sits comfortably and that the position of the microphone is well adjusted.
