Use fire tv stick media server?

I would like to know if i can somehow use a server with my own mp4 files from a fire tv stick, i.e. Can play the mp4 files from it?

Of course everything is possible here so I can simply use it as an ftp but also install software like owncloud or nextcloud on it, the main thing is to get the result in a simple way to play the mp4 files on the fire tv stick

if i have to install something on the fire tv stick this is not a problem but it should work relatively easy for the user after installation and setup

I want to upload media for the family so that they can also use it, I myself have a ps4 and the pc and therefore use the pc, if someone knew a method for the ps4 it would be very cool ^^

I thank you in advance

Have you ever heard of the Kodi media center software?

This free program is available for various operating systems, including Windows, Apple computers, Linux, Android, iOS and the Raspberry Pi.

This software can be traced back to the XBox media center: "XBMC" (XBoxMediaCenter).

You can expand the program with many official (and legal) add-ons.

https://kodi.tv/addons

It is only through these add-ons that Kodi gains its performance and flexibility.

And due to the illegal add-ons from dubious sources, Amazon no longer has this media center on offer in its own store.

The Android version must therefore be loaded onto the FireTV via "Sideload".

The audio, video and image files can then be e.g. Address the DLNA protocol via a NAS device, or a USB HD, or stick on the router.

Nothing can be connected locally directly to the FireTV stick. A "large" FireTV also has a local USB connection.

I use the "big" FireTV of the first generation via LAN cable. I could also use Wi-Fi if I wanted to. It also works very well.

For me, the multimedia data is on a NAS and on the PC a DLNA server occasionally runs, with which I can also access (released) data on the PC hard drives.

Under Kodi you can create a "folder" structure that can then access multiple source paths at the same time. So you can e.g. Have films listed on several hard disks (NAS, USB stick on the router, DLNA server, cloud, …) collected.

It is a very powerful program.

I don't really know anything about the PS4 …

So I started a corresponding Google search:

Maybe it will help you.

I would do it like this: Simply connect an external hard drive to the USB port on the router. You can then set it up there as a home cloud. Then copy the multimedia files there. Then you can access it with all devices.
