Looking for a good to very good steering wheel for SimRacing. Mainly play F1 on the ps4 and first saw the Thrustmaster t300rs. But now I noticed relatively quickly that there are many other good alternatives. Since I want to switch to a ps5 (as soon as it is available again) I did some research and came across the Fanatec csl elite. My problem is that on the one hand I know that on a Playstation with F1 I can't use all the skills that I would buy with the csl elite for a long time, on the other hand I'm afraid to enter with an 800 euro setup. Does anyone have experience with one of the steering wheels and can tell me in advance that you will quickly reach your limits with a Thrustmaster and it makes more sense to invest in a Fanatec right away or whether the Thrustmaster is completely sufficient for the beginning and it would be total overkill Whole (steering wheel + racing seat) up to 1000 euro?
Maybe someone has general tips on getting started with SimRacing and can speak a little from experience.
Thrustmaster t150 is enough to get you started
Thanks for your answer, but to be honest I don't think I'll really have fun with it. Play racing games for a good 4 years now and think that I will be significantly slower with a "cheap" steering wheel than with the controller. My goal is to build a really good simulator step by step. For this reason I believe that this 200 euro would be more sensible invested in more expensive / better equipment.
Some time ago i set many time trial world records in f1 2013 and grid autosport with a t150. I also know a lot of other very fast people who are world class with cheap logitechs. So a better steering wheel doesn't really make you faster, at the end of the day it comes down to the inputs you give.
But of course, the better the ffb, the more fun - if the pure driving experience is important to you, then a more expensive steering wheel is definitely worth it. But as I said, more expensive is not = faster.
