I got a Ps5 controller for Christmas and I connected it with a cable. The controller was recognized, but didn't work at all in Cyberpunk and only the square button and the right stick in AC Odyssey (both very buggy). It gets worse. After plugging in and unplugging the controller, my keyboard suddenly stopped working. It gets worse. I pulled out the controller and restarted the PC. Then the picture in the appendix appeared and neither mouse nor keyboard worked. I even pulled the plug and put it back in again. Nothing.
I do not know what to do. (The controller is NOT a fake, just in case you think it doesn't work because of it.)

If you want to get a controller for your computer in the future, then take an Xbox Series controller, they are much better, currently cost less and are above all compatible with Windows!
The problem with your pc:
Would recommend you maybe take the Bios battery out briefly (for 10 seconds) and then plug it back in.
I had the same problems at the time, but not caused by plastic waste, but by a bios update. After this I could no longer use the mouse, keyboard and monitor. After removing the Bios battery everything went back on the first day.

It's none of my business either, since I play over the cable but I have a Ps4 and the controllers last at least 5 hours. After 5 hours of gaming you will probably take a 20 minute break from charging. You probably dropped your controller or something similar. And the battery was therefore defective.

Workmanship and fit play a big role and the Xbox controller is in front! Ah and you get used to everything. The Playstation Controller is a cramp for Xbox users, for example.
