Monitor VGA to graphics card HDMI?

I bought a PC that only has HDMI and DP on the graphics card. Unfortunately my monitor only has a VGA connection. I bought a VGA-DVI adapter because I thought that it also has a DVI connection, the DVI connection he also has, but only on the mainboard (the DVi connection does not work with a built-in graphics card, right?). I don't know what a DP connector is, but I'm assuming that I need an HDMI to VGA adapter, right? Can you recommend one?

I find it strange that I tried to connect my PS4 to the monitor via such an HDMI to VGA adapter, but it didn't work, so I exchanged the adapter. Should I assume that it will work with the PC? By the way, I have a BenQ monitor.

DP is called Displayport and both your monitor and your graphics card should have it.

Ch

Ivh would honestly recommend buying a new monitor, because such adapters usually do not work and if your monitor does not have a dp or hdmi and your gpu only these terminations, I think they will not work well

Co

The functions, you just have to buy the right ones.

se

Does that mean it won't work with an adapter?

se

Which are the right ones? One, we said, didn't work on my PS4.

Co

You need an active adapter. From HDMI to VGA

Gu

It would be much easier if you look for your DP connection on the monitor and the graphics card and buy a DP cable

tr

He also has the DVI connection, but only on the mainboard (the DVi connection does not work with a built-in graphics card, right?)

Yes, that's true.

HDMI to VGA adapter, right?

Yes, the signal needs to be converted from HDMI to VGA.

Such an adapter can work, but it doesn't have to. There are always problems.

What does "active" mean?

Can you recommend one to me?

Can you recommend an adapter to me?

Unfortunately, the monitor has only one VGA connection.

ti

Active means that this actively converts the signal from digital to analog. Passive would simply be rewiring from HDMI to DVI e.g.

lo

Heh, he wrote that the monitor only has vga…

DisplayPort has only been available as a standard since 2006, many monitors from before 2010 do not have a DP.

The one I'm currently using has only HDMI and DVI.

ti

In which world do you live? Not every monitor has a display port. There was a time with analog signals.

ti

Unfortunately, nobody can recommend this adapter with a clear conscience, since they are all rather modest. But what is in the nature of things, convert digital to analog and then it should cost 10 euro, can't really go well.

se

Unfortunately, it is not included.

I have now ordered this, somewhat more expensive one.

is he active?

se

I have now ordered a slightly more expensive one. Let's see if it works, but you can't judge that, can you?

Monitor VGA to graphics card HDMI

It doesn't happen that they look the same. The adapter at Media Markt most likely came from the same factory.

Fr

Why don't you buy a monitor with HDMI? It is used on ebay classifieds for the same money as a decent adapter…

Ch

The problem with these adapters is that they steal a lot of performance and cause high latency.
