Do you have to initiate the download yourself in order for the PS4 to download updates in sleep mode?

I wanted to play a round of COD with a friend during my break today. In order for the update to be downloaded overnight, I put my Playstation into sleep mode. And yes, I ticked the box next to "Stay connected to the internet in sleep mode".

Now I start the game and the update didn't work. Can anyone explain to me?

This no longer works too error-free on Playstation (unfortunately). Only games that were played no longer than 30 days ago will be updated. And even there it doesn't always work. Problem is known but has never been fixed. I think they fixed that on the PS5 …
