I play on the PC, and always destroy it, some perks take advantage of this, if you start sabotaging the totem, the killer receives a message that I would still destroy it in principle
That's nonsense. There are only two hex perks that will put Survivorn at a disadvantage if the corresponding hex is destroyed. But kicking the totem later doesn't do anything.
The two hex perks with disadvantages are haunted grounds (all survivors are exposed for 60 seconds after being destroyed, ie they go down after a hit) and retribution (the killer sees survivor auras for 10 seconds, wow).
All other hex perks give the killer a more or less big advantage, which is why you should always run totems directly.
