4k60HZ VS 1080p 144HZ?

Moin, I have to get a 144hz and 1080p monitor. This should be for my pc (only play minecraft and CSGO on it). However, I also have a PS5 (almost only story games) for which 4K and 60HZ are more suitable. The problem is now that I have heard that, for example, the jump from 60HZ to 144HZ is divine and that it is almost impossible to go back. And the jump from 1080 to 4K would also be violent and there would be no turning back. The question now is whether I can "get used to" again and again. By that I mean when I can go from minecraft (144hz) back to God of war (4k60fps) for example. By that I mean that I don't get such thoughts:

boar now it is not running smoothly again etc.

I should get used to one of the two "types" of monitors. E.g. Two 144Hz monitors instead of a 4k60HZ and a 144hz1080p monitor. Or would you prefer both 4K?

I would be happy to receive a detailed answer. And please don't answer such as: what's the problem?

Buy a 1440p 165 / 144hz monitor.
No 4k but 1440p is also a big difference to fhd

Sc

Unfortunately, Ps5 does not support 1440p.

cl

Uff… Well. Personally, I would then spend a little more and buy a 120hz 4k monitor, maybe. Then 4ms, because it's cheaper. But does the ps5 even have DP?

Sc

No the ps5 only has hdmi.

cl

Hdmi 2.0 or 2.1

Sc

Supports both. So 4K 120HZ would theoretically be possible.

The difference is divine?

I haven't seen anything like that for nine months. I'm more of the opinion that that
Imagination and a placebo effect is.

Take the FPS display away from your FPS friends or manipulate the FPS display (on a PC, really too high on one) and then we'll see how many can see a difference.

In any case, I can't say that I can see any difference between 60 and 144 fps. But maybe it was also because my old monitor wasn't bad either. It was ancient but had a good picture.

If you compare a 10 year old monitor for a 100 with a new one for 300+, the difference may seem really divine to you, but that's probably not because of the FPS.

And the leap in graphics quality beyond Full HD can often not really be seen. For me this is massively game-dependent where I at least see the difference between full HD and WQHD. With most of them you can see nothing or hardly anything and with some it is massive.

On top of that, the PS5 can't deliver real 4K anyway and therefore not full 4K quality anyway, so you shouldn't notice the difference too much.

But if you want to be ready for anything, do as I did and get a WQHD monitor with 144 Hz. You have both more FPS than 60 and a higher resolution than Full HD and there are very good monitors in the 300 euro class.

cl

Well Then I would take that too. A good 4k 120hz 4ms, monitor with ips panel costs a lot. If you don't mind, you can certainly get one somewhere cheaper. (Second hand)

Sc

Ps5 doesn't support 1440p

Ma

For me, that's a damn good reason not to buy horsepower. Especially if you still have a PC standing around anyway

In my experience, switching between 144 and 60hz isn't that bad when switching between different games, but not when switching between 144 and 60 on the same game. E.g. I don't mind that GTA, Monster Hunter and Dark Souls "only" run at about 60 fps on my PC, even though I play Minecraft at 144 HZ, as these games have always been running that way. The same applies when I play on the Switch or PS4, the 60/30 fps don't bother me either, because the games always run that way there. Minecraft e.g. But I wouldn't want to play below 144hz anymore.

For Minecraft and csgo alone I would get one with 144.

Sc

The pc only creates minecraft and CSGO. And switching from a PS to a pc is out of the question for me anyway, because I love god of war (PS exclusive) and all my friends have a PS.

Sc

It would be much too expensive for me.

cl

Ohh well then, more like fhd 144hz. 4k is still a bit too expensive, in a few years you can have a look. They will also be cheaper as soon as wahd is standard

jo

All in one: 4k

144hz are not really groundbreaking in my opinion and rather meant to show: yes, it is possible. Useful? No.

4k monitors, displays, etc. Are a much better investment now and in the future. You have surely already noticed that everything is rapidly approaching the 4k resolutions, right?

In my opinion, 4k resolutions make 100x more sense than buying an FHD monitor with 144hz technology.

Ask yourself the following question: Razor-sharp pictures, or a "bit" smoother picture, which you won't have in most new games (not always).

As

144hz for sure

La

That's exactly the case! If you only value frames, you will sometimes miss the further graphic development.
