I currently have a 1080p 60hz monitor. Now I want to upgrade to either 1440p 144hz or 4k 60hz. A monitor or television with this HDMI 2.1 is clearly too expensive for me. Now I'm wondering whether I can reach my above numbers via HDMI 2.0 (I think so, right?), As some 144hz monitors can only reach the full 144hz with this display port. How can I tell on a monitor that it can only call up full performance with the DP? I don't want to get one who only makes 80hz with HDMI or something.
I would take a television. You don't need HDMI 2.1. There are only a few advantages but you can also play 4K 60 fps on an HDMI 2.0 TV
But I have something like a gaming corner. So it's difficult for me to set up a television there.
I would recommend you to use the 4K @ 60hz monitor, because it is not yet known whether the Playstation 5 will have a 1440p mode for the public. In addition, the Playstation 5 will not be able to play many games in 120fps, so a 144hz monitor is not really worth it.
Hi, thanks for your reply. The graphics are only so important to me. In the new Call of Duty there should be an FPS mode for the PS5. FPS are more important to me. Does a 1440p (if supported) with 144hz (even if "only" 100-120 FPS are used) make more sense?
Yes that does make perfect sense.
Would wait until 1440p are officially confirmed.
Because Sony doesn't even offer 1440p for the Ps4 Pro, which was also advertised as a 4K console (which it is by no means)
Yes, I also pre-ordered it, would definitely wait until the console arrives and see if 1440p is supported. Let's assume it is not supported, should I buy 4k 60hz or better 1080p 144hz? Play COD, GTA, ARK and Gran Turismo. And thank you for your answers!
So with shooters you benefit from a monitor with more hz or fps.
However, not every shooter will support 120fps. Which is a bit pointless then.
One could still wait for future monitors with 4K at 120fps.
Yes that's true. I've now decided: If the PS5 supports 1440p, I'll buy a 1440p 144hz monitor. If not then 4k 60hz.
Believe if 4k 120hz appear they will be extremely expensive at the beginning. If you want a good 4k 144hz monitor you have to invest at least 700 euro at the moment. If you then remove the 24hz still 500 euro…

It would probably not be worth it, though. Because you Playstation 5 has very few games that are supported 120fpe, but just wait and see
Yes you are right. But mainly gamble shooters, as already mentioned, there should be in the new COD nen FPS mode. If that is really the case, it would really annoy me if I had a 60hz monitor.
