How can I play online with a friend in Fifa 20 (no FUT)?

I have a question and I want to play with PSN Fifa with a friend but it doesn't work with partying, because the function "transfer controller" is only for PS-Plus members, which we both are not.

We also want to play normal kick-off, not FUT, because our teams are quite unevenly strong and like both of them are inexperienced and prefer to simply choose the teams.

Is that possible and if so how?

You can do that online, yes. But you need a PS Plus subscription anyway. Locally via split screen.

There are several alternatives to FUT online:

Online Seasons

You choose a team from the team catalog and can play league and cup games similar to FUT.

Co-op Seasons

The same as online seasons, only with 2 players per team

Pro clubs

Probably the most interesting way to play FIFA. As in the pro career, each player has his own footballer. You can then either play spontaneous games - online matchmaking for 5-5 games, the rest of the team is AI-controlled. - or join a club (best: Reddit) / create a club.

You can then play league games in your own club again. You can either control one man at a time or one of you can take over the position "everyone" and in addition to your own player also take over the AI control.

For pro clubs there are also countless leagues with their own websites
