I thought about installing an SSD on my PS4, but I'm still a bit hesitant because the PS5 will come out at the end of 2020 and most likely already has an SSD. Is it still worth it or should I wait until the PS5
Wait until the PS5, why invest in a PS4 now…
He doesn't invest in a PS4, but in the hard drive.
Since the ps4 only has a sata 3gbit / s interface, this is almost not worth it.
I also invest in my PC when I buy an SSD…
So it is different with the PS4, sorry I apparently missed the fact that it is completely different here…
I personally would not do it. For a 1TB SSD you also pay 100 euro. I'm a technology enthusiast myself, but I just don't think it's worth it. Maybe if you play a lot of open world games where there are minutes of loading screens between the areas. In online games I think you will hardly notice a difference.
SATA SSDs have SATA III with 6 GBit / s?
Eh yes, but not the playstation. Corrected.
The only Open World Games I play are GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. With GTA 5 I sometimes noticed reloading stutters.
My PS4 has a 2TB SSD in it, it's worth it for me, it feels a bit faster to start and ready for use and some games with a long charging time like GTA load noticeably faster.
But whether it is worth the price for you is again a completely different question.
Yes, you definitely missed that. It's about the basis of the argument that the PS4 is out of date when the PS5 comes out. However, the SSD will remain up to date afterwards and he could simply take it out again.
With the SSD, the PS4 benefits less from the transfer speed than from the access time of the SSD. The SATA interface has no influence on this.
True, I forgot that the normal and slim are only connected via USB 3.0 (actually!). The Pro, however, has a full SATA III connection.
I saw a lot of videos that show that it is really worth changing on an SSD. Since I like to play GTA myself and the long loading times at GTA annoy me, I'm thinking about it. The price is so ne thing and the effort to back up the data, download the OS of the PS4 and reinstall then put the data back on the PS4, etc.
I'm a prospective IT specialist. For me it is routine.
Then you are very familiar with it.
This is true in itself, but the loading time is still reduced to a maximum of 10 seconds with 1 minute charging time.
If you are already thinking about whether it is worth it or not, then it is obviously not worth it for you.
An SSD is expensive, especially for the PS4 you need a large one so that many games can fit on it and you don't have to constantly throw something down. A 1TB SSD costs a good 100 euro and for the price you can almost get a used PS4.
In addition, the PS4 does not really benefit from an SSD compared to a PC, so in my opinion this is money thrown out, unless you have more than enough money but then the question would not be answered here.
If you want better loading times, you go for the PC, have only recently noticed what kind of loading times you have on consoles. To start a quest at Iceborne and it takes 1: 30min until the hunt starts.
On the PC, I need 7-13 seconds for that, because I really don't understand how people can live with such blatant loading times, the whole back and forth journey takes half an eternity and would take the fun out of the game as it did back then with GTA 5.
Some games on the PS4 benefit from whether the price is worth it, however, is another matter, since the PS4 is no longer so valuable.
