Wanted to catch up with your opinion, I've recently brought a used PS4 game and actually discovered a small scratch, about the size of a small finger nail, so not really big, the scratch is easily noticeable and looks like a small at first glance Hair out (but it is not.).
But back to the question: Can such scratches damage a game / affect the gaming experience? Rather, affect the functionality of the game, generally speaking. Installed the whole game without any problems, even a 1-hour antesten ran without any problems.
Previous opinions only told me that as soon as the game can be installed without problems, the scratch does not matter, since the PS4 then starts the game from the hard drive and the disc in the case does not matter then. Accordingly, this should have no impact on the game. Also that Blu-Rays are much more resistant than CDs / DVDs and thus there's no problem.
Blu-rays are already very robust and can withstand a lot… As long as the scratch is not very deep there should be no problems.
Normally if the disc did not work it would come when you insert the disc a message that the disc is not recognizable and is dirty or damaged. Since you can play it without problems, it should stay that way. Try to avoid scratching as much as possible.
Sorry my auto correction is currently playing crazy and just changed right words
