Since yesterday I kind of noticed a strange smell from the ps4, as if something smelled like burned. Is that somehow dangerous and what can it be?
Maybe a cable is burning… Nobody can tell from a distance. Open up - take a look…
How about turning it off, letting it cool down, cleaning the fan and checking the cables?

Maybe change ssd or is the ps4 older than you bought it?

Dusting is very important with such devices, it is best to open it with a dust rag or something, but under no circumstances blow (this can make it worse with the moisture in your mouth).
Otherwise, just give the thing a break if you notice the PS4 uses a lot of power, e.g. During a game or because it is older. If a strange smell comes out, I would rather be afraid that something is stewing, and that's not good at all. Then the PS was loaded too much and must be switched off until it is cool again. If something is simmering away, that's not good for the device
I'm not a PS gamer, but on the internet you can still find products that could help cool the PS, literally a cooler for PS4. Just see that you get the right thing there.
Turn it off for an hour, then try again. If it happens again try this:
Check the power cord
see if the hard drive is making strange, scratching noises
unplug all things from the USB ports (if any are connected)

Check all cables
Check the processor, graphics unit, etc.
Check the housing inside and outside for "scorched" marks
If that doesn't work, I would call support or ask the dealer.
