I would like to connect my new main monitor over a Displayport cable to my PC and connect my Ps4 to the HDMI connection of the monitor. Is that possible? And how do I switch between the two?
The monitor is the Asus Rog Swift PG278QR
Each monitor has such a UI (user interface).
There you can change the video input or switch between DP and HDMI.
Of course it works. Similar to a normal normal TV, you can switch between the inputs via the menu of your monitor.
I do not know your monitor now, but usually monitors provide a menu in which you can choose which input signal to play.
There you can then switch between DP and HDMI or turn the monitor on automatically, whereby the monitor itself checks where there's a signal and this then represents. If both signals are present at the same time, the monitor then automatically decides on one of the signals.
