Why does my cell phone just stop working?

I gambled last night and during that time I had a twitch stream on my cell phone. The cell phone was at 2% and my mother called me. I wanted to take the call, but my cell phone went off because the battery was empty. I then switched it on and plugged it in immediately afterwards, but then the info light went off and it has not come on since then. Could it be that it had a short circuit or something? How do I get it back on now, because I urgently need it, because there are important documents for my school on it. I have now let it charge for a few hours, but still nothing works.
