Shure sm7b to overkill as a hobby musician / student band?

I loveugel with the thought to buy a Shure sm7b for my birthday as it is considered one of the best allrounder microphones.

My areas of application would be recording guitar, streaming on Twitch, podcasting on YT, recording piano and and so on and so on, there's everything there's: -D

Since it's relatively expensive, I'm wondering if it's not too overkill, since it's almost only professional musicians or producers, and not a hobby ambitious YTber / podcaster / musician like me.

I'm a person willing to spend more money than 100 euro for quality.

In addition, she should optics vote and that is the hammer with this microphone!

Would you also have cheaper alternatives?

I would like to buy the microphone but it does not hurt, sometimes to ask if there's not something cheaper with the same quality.

Given that you seem to have the money, I would not say that it is overpowering.

Although you still have to worry about surround sound, proximity effects, etc., it is easier to get a good sound out of the circumstances with a good micro.

And just at Twitsch and Youtube there are many amateur producers who "spoil" the world with their more or less bad Soundqualis. Since it is not bad to be able to set yourself apart from them.

Allround, however, means that it can do everything a bit, but nothing perfect. With a specialized guitar mic, you would probably get "more typical" sound with less money. (If your name is better for you too, it's a different story.)

I would probably do it. You also have 14 days right to exchange for internet purchases. If you do not like it.

Look at the shure sm57.

The all-rounder badly!

I would also recommend you to call the studio support thomann.de and give you a brief advice.

When I record guitars and pianos I usually do not think of a SM7B. I do not really like the SM7B in front of guitar speakers. But before the bass amp, I like it very much.

Microphones are tools and depending on the purpose you choose just the right one. If you only have a hammer, you see nails everywhere. A Shure 545 or the SM57 also make a good figure for voice recordings. For the acceptance of a guitar amp this is still a standard. For piano and acoustic guitar I would then look at Kleinmembrankondensatormikrofone. The Oktava MK012 would be cheap and that is good for something.

Ultimately, for the same budget, I'd prefer a Shure 545 or SM57 and a few Oktava MK012s rather than a single SM7B.

In addition, the Sennheiser MD421 looks nicer in my opinion. Depending on the sound source I prefer that more often than the SM7B.

Where the SM7B is a good microphone. No question. But I would not call it "one of the best allrounder microphones".

I mean acoustic too.

So again to the understanding I would make podcasts mainly but also often ACQUAINT GUITAR record and not the micro in front of the amplifier for the sake of God's sake xDDD I have my mixer a HI Z input, because I plug my electric guitar in
