Your wired thing has the driver of your onboard sound and is not recognized as a separate device, as is the case with usb.

I have the new generation of controllers, the Xbox one s controller, and connect it to my PC via bluethoot and connect my headphones to the aux port. Because my PC already has Bluethoot. But with Bluethoot you can only pass control and no audio. If you connect the controller directly to the PC with a USB cable, you can connect headphones directly to the controller and the audio is transmitted or you buy an Xbox one controller wireless adapter.
