Xbox controller does not connect (cable, PC)?

I want to play OMSI-2 on the controller, but my controller somehow doesn't connect. When I plug it in, it just vibrates and nothing happens. No LED on no connection.

Can somebody help me?

I don't think Omsi 2 can be played with a controller, but I can be wrong.
The batteries in the controller must not be empty, maybe it's the cable or the USB port

I plugged my wired in via an android device charger and it works.

It says on Steam that Omsi 2 has full controller support.
