HDMI 2.1 on TV for Pc?

Do I absolutely need HDMI 2.1 if I want to connect my PC to the television in order to get the best out of the picture? Just like to play a few games on controllers and then on TV. And since I wanted to buy an Xbox Series X myself, but pc and Xbox are almost the same because of games, I may not need a console and wanted to convert it that way

You only need HDMI 2.1 if you plan to play in 4K (UHD) at 120 FPS. Of course, you don't need a TV with HDMI 2.1. Since it is slowly but surely becoming the new standard, a television with HDMI 2.1 would be more future-proof than one without.

So it just crossed my mind: If I don't buy a tv with hdmi 2.1 now, for example, it wouldn't be so tragic because I would only have the 4K in 120hz and not like with 2.0 4K 60hz (hit me if I'm wrong lying 😂). I don't necessarily gamble like an esportsman, so I need more repetition in the picture. Just on the tv
