I bought the new Xbox Series X and missed the optical audio output when I connected it.
With the normal Xbox One I could connect my Sony BDV-E2100 with it.
Now I have tried to connect the Series X to the TV via HDMI and at the same time to connect the TV to the audio receiver via the optical cable - without success. Do I have a mistake in thinking?
You and I can rule out a mistake in any case. Because that's how it should work.
The sound output must be set to HDMI on the console. Then the signal lands on the TV.
If you are now playing you have to switch to the optical in the audio settings of the TV.
Perfect! It was exactly that! I still had to set the television to the optical output and switch to "Bitstream Audio" on the console under Settings.
No problem
