The Xbox Series X offers gamers the opportunity to play video games on 4k graphic quality and the associated 120 FPS, but it requires that you have an HDMI 2.1 connection, otherwise 60 FPS in 4k would be possible.
But where do you get the 2.1 from now? I'm not aware of any new screens / monitors with a 2.1 connection. Furthermore, they would certainly be very expensive from 1,000 euro
Is there another way to exploit the 120 FPS?
There are TVs which already have HDMI 2.1.
I don't know anything about monitors, but there are certainly innovations on the market.
However, this is not absolutely necessary. Very few games will offer 4k with 120 FPS. Dirt 5, for example, offers 120 FPS but with a scalable resolution. An Assassins Creed Valhalla runs in 4k with 60 fixed FPS.
In addition, you can lower the resolution of the console in the settings and thus get more frames. The Series S.
Thank you ππΌ
4k 120fps is not possible anyway, maybe with Tetris. The RTX 3080/90 is a lot stronger than the series X and mostly only manages around 70-90 FPS in 4k
Well what now, is it "not possible anyway" or "maybe"?
In addition, a single graphics card can't be better than a complete hardware configuration. There are also a few more hardware components. π
Pure marketing. With a few exceptional cases, the targeted standard remains at 4K60hz. And even these are often not achieved (see Yakuza or Watch Dogs Legion, which only make it to 30hz at 4K).
There are already some TVs with HDMI 2.1. The first monitors that support the new standard will come onto the market at the end of the year. But in my opinion these are not really necessary.
1. At Sony this is just pure marketing
2. On the Playstation 5 there are not really big games that support 4K 120fps. Nevertheless, it is printed on the packaging, sad.
3. Yakuza and Watch Dogs only run on the Ps5 in 4K @ 30fps. And that with activating ray tracing. Since ray tracing is not real ray tracing on the Playstation, the Playstation will not even manage 60fps with deactivated ray tracing
4K with 120fps has long been confirmed.
Ori, Rainbow Six Siege, Dirt 5, ExoMecha, Second Extinction, Gears 5 and many more.
With Dirt 5, 120 FPS were already measured in 4k
