On the PC: XBOX Series X | S Controler - If I connect a 3.5 mm jack headset to the controller, it doesn't work (Win10). How can I stay wireless?

I want to be able to play wirelessly from the sofa and talk to friends on the multiplayer at the same time. (TV is hanging on the PC)

I got myself an XBOX Series X | S controller and connected it to Bluetooth. I thought it should work like this when I plug my headset into the controller. Only no microphone is recognized on the PC.

So far this has not been a problem because I have played more games where you need a mouse and keyboard, only now I would like to just e.g. Play fifa. It is simply impractical to hang in front of the screen. Without a headset, I can't speak to my opponent and the headset is wired to the PC.

I don't want to use a Bluetooth headset or something and don't want to charge any headset batteries either, so a wired headset on the controller.

Am I doing something wrong or is there no solution for it?

Hi, what if you get an extension cable and then connect your headseat to your PC in the normal way (I don't know what your room looks like, of course, so it is of course only an option if you are not too far away from the PC)

Ke

You need the official Xbox wireless adapter for PC.

You can also use it to switch audio back and forth over the Xbox wireless connection.

The stick costs around 20 euro

Thank you for your suggestion, but cables stretched across the room is not as much a solution as I imagine. I have my PC on the right wall and my TV on the front wall. The couch is placed centrally on the back wall. Cable connections are all laid in channels, I'm allergic to visible cables.

Thanks first of all. I then have 2 more questions about your answer:
Question 1:
Does that mean I bought the bluetooth dongle for free? My PC mainboard has no Bluetooth and I bought a Bluetooth dongle so that the controller works wirelessly.
Question 2:
Can I connect normal headsets with a 3.5 mm jack or do I need an XBOX chat headset adapter or whatever it is called? (I wrote headsets in plural because I would like to connect several controllers at the same time and would also include people in the room with me and taking part in the game in conversations, I assume the PC will summarize this as a microphone - would actually be one 3rd question ;-))

No not true. You can also use the dongle for other purposes.

You don't need the Xbox Chat Adpater. It's only there to turn your teammates up or down faster and maybe you want to be able to mute yourself quickly. However, this adapter is not mandatory

Thank you very much, then I will now know.

Maybe you can help me here too? I still don't have an answer…
