TV LG OLED CX65 - question about optical output (passthrough) Who can

I have a very, very specific question for people who really know about this topic:-). I have a brand new LG OLED CX65 (2020 model) and want to put together a low budget 5.1 system. I would like to order the Teufel Consono MK25 5.1 system and connect it to my existing (somewhat older) Onkyo AV receiver. Problem: the receiver only supports HDM 1.4, which is not enough for me. Normally you should connect the external devices (e.g. Xbox, PS4 etc.) to the AV receiver via HDMI and hang the AV receiver to the TV via HDMI. This doesn't work for me due to HDMI 1.4, as there are significant losses in terms of image quality.

My solution: Connect all external devices to the LG OLED TV directly (via HDMI 2.0 & 2.1) and then use the optical output (Toslink) of the TV. So connection of the AV receiver with the TV via Toslink cable. The problem now is that most TVs do not have a (passthrough, "scroll through function"). I.e. The sound signal is fed to the TV in 5.1 (from the external devices), but can only be transmitted from the TV to the receiver (via Toslink) in stereo.

In principle, HD sound formats do not go via Toslink anyway - but they are not wanted either. I just want real 5.1 sound.

My question now:

Can anyone tell me whether the LG OLED CX65 has this "passthrough function", which is unfortunately very rare? That means unfiltered transmission of the 5.1 signal via the optical output? I can't find any information about this anywhere. LG can't tell me either. There's nothing in the instruction manual. I scoured a lot of forums to no avail. I despair.

I don't know your television set and I can't give you any experience.

However, I had a similar problem with my PS4 Slim as it no longer has an optical audio output. My television (Sony Bravia) does not have the pass-through function…

So you can either:

Use the audio return channel (HDMI ARC) from your TV. Possibly. You can find information about whether he offers passthrough. Is probably more common than for the Toslink
Buy an audio extractor. (e.g. https://www.amazon.de/...07F8NWXBD/ It has an HDMI input and output and can extract Toslink for you. Would definitely be the working fallback solution. However, the adapters are all active and need additional power, i.e. More cables

Just look in the settings there you can set PCM or Bitstream or path.

A good question. Personally, I call myself a home cinema freak and I did it this way with my devices… Samsung Blu-ray Player (with 5.1 integrated) the optical cable goes into the Samsung UHD TV (still very new). And the 5.1 sound works perfectly. This also works great with Amazon Prime. I don't need to switch back and forth between BD and Amazon because the devices recognize it automatically. With a 5.1 receiver (already had several of them) I did it like this, namely to plug the coax and the optical cable from the BD player into the inputs of the receiver. Then of course which input is desired must be selected on the receiver optically or coaxial cable. The buttons also say Optical or Coaxial. Maybe you can do something with my information. Kind regards Rüdiger.
