Gaming Headset Xbox Surround Sound?

I'm currently looking for a gaming headset for my Xbox Series X. I had actually already decided on the Razer Kraken when I read from a user that the headset only supports stereo sound on consoles (7.1 surround only on PC). Is this only the case when using the Xbox controller adapter or does the headset definitely only work with stereo sound? If so, what are good alternatives?
