I want to buy the Minecraft Java Edition again for my PC. When I did this 8 years ago, it didn't exist. Now you have to connect to Microsoft, which I don't think is bad. However, it now says that I should choose a gamertag for the xBox, although I clearly pressed on PC. Is that simply because the accounts are now run through Microsoft and so I can play on both PC and xBox? Or is that a bug? Don't want to buy it if it's only for the xbox because I don't even have an xbox.

So Microsoft is trying to make all of this into one big "ecosystem".
